I bought this to replace a thick walled gaiwan that I used for compressed whites. I was very pleased with it from the first use. The balance and pour are great and it holds the heat very well so highly compressed leaves get to steam between steeps. Overall a fine basic piece for any collection.

It's such beautifully crafted pot! The string wrapped sides are useful for picking up and pouring when your index finger holds the lid down. I have not attempted using it with loose leaves but a teabag work well with it too as it has a lip inside.

Overall a ceramic that is great to have for usage and display!
