Yue Chao mastered in ceramics at the prestigious Qinghua Fine Arts Academy in Beijing, and has been wood-firing porcelain in Jingdezhen since the first of the new-kiln technology was brought over from Japan. With an artists eye and a meticulous hand, each of his pieces are pristinely crafted and expertly fired. It is hard to achieve this level of perfection and consistency, which is why we adore Yue Chao and his work.
The Dragon's Breath Brew Cups are our favorite brew cups to use hands down. The rustic look and feel of each piece and the fact that no two of these are ever alike (this batch of dragon's breath brew cups all got a lot of action in the kiln) make this line one of our favorite batches of brew cups we have carried.
The mix of matte and gloss from one side to another mixed with the rustic charcoal blue and fine orange make them just as amazing to look at as they are to use.
It's thin, with a good pour. What makes it stand out is the texture of the different glazes and warmth of holding it after or between steeps. It holds temperature better then any of my other giwans.
Now any Giwan you can use is good however if you are looking for something special this may be for you. I like how this it is without being too thin, it pours beautifully, the glaze is something that just puts it over the top. It has texture to it in some spots and holds heat really well so its nice to just hold in your hands between steeps.
