I have a lot of handcrafted tea ware but never invested in a gaiwan since even industrial made ones are rarely bad and normally just functional.
Then i saw this dragon's breath beauty and i wanted to try the extra money on a gaiwan.

I never had such a perfeclty balanced and beautiful gaiwan. It's pure joy to use it.

This is my very first artist's Gaiwan, so I had high expectations. Well, I have to say that my expectations were far exceeded. It's simply incredible, both to the touch, with its multiple textures and very good grip, and to the eye, with the complementary colors of blue and orange, making this piece a work of art.

It's thin, with a good pour. What makes it stand out is the texture of the different glazes and warmth of holding it after or between steeps. It holds temperature better then any of my other giwans.

Now any Giwan you can use is good however if you are looking for something special this may be for you. I like how this it is without being too thin, it pours beautifully, the glaze is something that just puts it over the top. It has texture to it in some spots and holds heat really well so its nice to just hold in your hands between steeps.
