The glaze of this gaiwan is thickly coated and feels soft in the hand.The elegantly hand-painted flower motif makes this piece stand out a bit from the collection, bright and cheery.
With a slightly irregular shape, this gaiwan handles a bit differently than others.It’s a more bottom-heavy bowl rather than the more commonly ‘v’ shaped angled gaiwans.There is great functionality here though that isn’t compromised by the design.
This feels very much like a spring or summer gaiwan.Even testing the piece, we made a mental note to stash it away for warmer weather.If you’re interested in expanding your teaware in a way that changes with the season, or even just looking for a more cheerful gaiwan, then this one is for you.
Also, at 150ml this is a great gawian for larger tea parties, up to 4 or 5 people.
