Gusher | Oolong

This one, the Gusher, is the one of those cases where we saved the best for last.  

We absolutely loved this tea loose last year with Derek sourcing it for One River Tea and we had the opportunity to press it this year.  

Pomelo was my absolute favorite fruit from living in China and this just gives that slightly bitter mouthfeel in that perfect citrus way.  

While Phoenix oolongs are generally less known than their Taiwanese or Wuyi cousins, 

they’ve quietly become some of our favorite teas to drink in the early fall months. 

They have that balance of floral and mineral — soft enough to unwind with, but still bright enough to remind you you’re alive.

We feel like a lot of lower priced teas(in the 10–25¢ per gram range) just aren’t roasted with the same care, and no matter how nice they taste or smell,

Gusher may not go as deep as the $1/gram dancongs, but it doesn’t need to.

It’s clean, balanced, and surprisingly refined for its price — an easy daily drinker and the perfect entry point for exploring Phoenix oolongs.
