These little guys are something that we first stumbled upon when hanging out with Mark Mohler from Sanguine Teapots.
When people are drinking tea there are two types of tea people, those that look for feeling and those that look for numbers. These are for the former.

When you are using a kettle that does not have variable temperature on it, sometimes it can be hard to tell what temperature the water is before it gets to a boil. These offer a satisfying rocking back and forth and popping as the water heats up to right before a boil.
They will react different with each kettle and will work with any kettle that you are heating whether electric, clay or metal.
