The Malt Cobalt towers a little taller, and it doesn’t make any apologies for it.
This is a higher-profile bowl, not for the weak of hand or faint of wrist.
If you whisk with your arm, you might struggle — but if you whisk with your wrist, this one sings.
The surface is a shifting landscape of color: cobalt blues dripping into greens, pooling into browns.
Hold it to the light and the glaze reveals itself as a living canvas, drips and flows frozen in place. Inside, the contrast deepens — a rich brown base, scattered with caramel flurries that look like desert dunes. It’s a world within a bowl.
And then there’s the form.
One bold protrusion near the base gives you a natural grip, like a handle meant for throwing back a final sip of matcha. It’s a small sculptural gesture, but it makes the piece feel alive in the hand.
Andrew calls these “sculptural matcha bowls” — functional vessels that carry the presence of sculpture.
The Malt Cobalt leans closer to functional than some, but it still holds that tension between art and utility. A bowl to whisk with, admire, and live with.
