If you like woodfired pots that have that metallic finish, which stains with tea oils, creating rainbows of color and need a teapot for a solo session these mini metallics will be perfect for you.
These teapots bring the final form of woodfired teaware at a price that isn't eyewateringly expensive.
I mean we get selling a kidney for a wood-handled, woodfired teapot
but...
you only have two kidneys.
If you haven't gotten into woodfired teaware, that's probably best...
for your wallet
and part of what makes these teapots so great.
Coming in at almost half the price of the woodfired Jianshui cousins that we carried at the end of 2024.
These simple Qinzhou woodfired pots have a ton of variety in shape, size, and action they saw in the kiln.
If you aren't sure what to look for, check for the gold specks, and darker blackened glossy areas to see where the pots got hit with more fire in the kiln.
Whether that is what you are looking for or maybe you prefer the more reserved, even, metallic pots, you can't go wrong with one of these.
Just don't sleep on them because next to the Sunken Treasure, the return of woodfired Qinzhou pots is our most common request to bring back in stock.

The pot has a nice weight to it, with an exterior texture that is smooth and polished in some places, rough in others. The picture above doesn't do a good job of capturing the subtle green-gold color on the lid and the shoulder of the pot. Quite pretty. The inside of the pot shows the tool marks used by the craftsman, and is also quite pretty in it's own way. The filter sits flush with the wall of the pot, not extending like a ball into the body of the vessel. I don't know if this is considered good or bad in the greater teapot community, but it has poured smoothly and reasonably quickly for me.
I wanted to specifically mention the filter and the pour, because at roughly the same time I bought this pot, I bought a very similar one from another maker. This one is significantly better. The spout is a little wider, the pour is faster and smoother, the woodfire makes it more visually intersting, it's just all around a better pot. The other pot isn't bad. I'm still using it. But I have this pot six inches from my hand right now, and I'm about to go make myself another cup of tea with it. If you are in the market for a smaller pot, this is a very good one.
