Every time someone finds out we sell teapots they mention videos of teapots being slab-built online that they've seen.
That’s almost always Yixing potters — and it’s super time-consuming.
In many ways, coil-building feels the same.
Each layer of clay is slowly built up by hand, giving the piece a raw, intentional presence that you just don’t get from wheel-thrown work.
Because of that process, these bowls carry a different kind of love in their form.
They take more time and more consideration, yet compared to Andrew’s sculptural matcha bowls they still feel like a bargain.
The Onyx Chaos is striking in its darkness.
In places it has that vantablack abyss quality — a matte surface like a cross between dark stone and a black hole.
But look closer, and you’ll see it’s not simply “all black.” Glossy areas shift toward a mossy green, subtle but alive, breaking through the shadows like light on wet rock.
A bowl that looks simple at first glance, but rewards anyone who takes the time to really see it.
