This gaiwan feels like a cheat code whether you’ve been steeping for years and just want it to work or whether you’re brand new to gaiwans and worried about burns.
Made from the same Qinzhou nixing clay that we love on so many of our daily drivers.
The tall gaiwan provides a nice group experience at a bit bigger size with the short being the iconic perfect height, width, and capacity coming in right at 100ml.
Since there are filter holes, it doesn’t have the best pour compared to those fine rim, waterfall pouring gaiwans but with everything else this gaiwan comes with we’re happy with this small setback.

Love it. I have tiny hands and this helps a lot with not getting steamed, not getting tea leaves in my gaiwan and pouring evenly.
The only complaint i had about the original one was that 160ml can be kinda uniwiedly and to big for solo session. I am more leaf then water person and the 100ml is the perfect office driver, Love it immensly looks great and pours nicely. Be careful of the heat as it is fully opened so steam can rise quicker then normal gaiwan pours and super small leaf or broken up like shou often comes can quickly clog the filters. Best used for Large leaf reds oolongs and shengs IMO
I usually don't write reviews because I don't think people read them. But please know that I am writing this because I want you to read it. Listen, I get that you want a gaiwan for your fiddly gong fu ceremony and to show off for your guests. This gaiwan is not that gaiwan. This gaiwan is the one I use every day. EVERY DAY. Because I am a middle-aged dude who wants a cup of tea to deal with all the s#!+ that comes through my computer screen. This is the gaiwan I turn to because I have SO MUCH TEA and not enough friends to spend hours drinking tea with. It is big. It is pretty. It will make you your cup of tea every afternoon over and over again. And if I mess up and break this gaiwan, please know that I will tear up a little, because it love it so much.
Buy this one. If it's out of stock, get on the wait-list and email the nice dudes who run this site and quote this review to tell them that I told you to buy this one. They will mail it to you and you will be happy when you open the box and see this gaiwan. Maybe they'll send you some tea too. I got some--some of it is good, some of it wasn't really my thing. It's an adventure and I'm here for it and thank you to the tea dudes for all of that.
I digress: I'm proof-reading this review because I want you to read it and buy this gaiwan. Seriously. No cap. This one. This is the one.
Fantastic. I love it.
After two weeks, this gaiwan came in the mail along with a free tea towel, and just like really good tea, it was worth the wait.
I love using gaiwans to brew my tea, and this gaiwan is a joy to brew with. No burns, and no worries about the cap potentially falling off as you pour out the tea.
Looks like I now have a favourite gaiwan. 😊😊😊
