Tapered feet, aggressive flashing, and mild touches to the rim...
all let these cups sit exactly where the rest of Jonathan's work does.
Highly functional art.
If you don't have a handmade cup these will be a fantastic teacher for what makes a handmade cup special.
From the individual character each cup has due to the wood firing(minus the electric fired ones 7-10 which have their own story) to the well balanced nature and tactile feel on the outside of each of these cups.
It's hard to not only resist but also decide which one to go with.
Sizing:
1-6 - 100ml
7-10 - 50ml
11-24 - 100ml
Couple of fun side notes:
- The ash glaze for cups 7-10 is harvested from the Anagama wood kiln that the other cups come from and is used as an ingredient in the glaze, then fired in an electric kiln.
- Cups 19-24 came from the work that Jonathan made during his residency in Shigaraki Japan in the winter of 2025. Also, for those who are looking at all the details 21 and 22 are missing. Unfortunately, those two broke in a freak shipping accident on the way to me. Just another reminder that while ceramics can last forever unlike your latest iPhone, everything is temporary.

Beautiful clay and so wonderfully handmade. The shape is just sublime. Thank you.
