This is a tea pitcher unlike any we have ever had.  The ripples in the glass look like water, really accentuating the tea brew itself.

The tea pitcher originally came from Taiwan.  The traditional gongfu tea practice in China involved pouring tea directly from the tea pot of gaiwan into the tea cups, or in some cases drinking directly from the teapot itself.  This nerve innovation has become an irreplaceable part of the gongfu tea set up.

Despite the intensely artistic look about this pitcher, there are several things that make it highly functional.  First is the relatively large flat base, this allows it to sit solidly on any surface without risk of tipping.  Secondly the finger groove at the top near the rim is perfectly situated for gripping and pouring without scalding the fingers with hot tea.  Finally, the ripples in the glass accentuate the tea by allowing more angles for the light to hit and illuminate its color.

If your tea pitchers are all dry and simple, this is an excellent way to change things up.
