There’s a funny shift that happens with teapots... and probably all hobbies in general.

At first we want the flashy: dramatic colors, big statements, things that shout across the table. Only later do we start to notice the quiet details, the subtleties that take a slower kind of appreciation.

This pot sits right in that space.

Thin-walled in a way that’s rare for an essential, with a pour that’s as clean as you’d expect from something more expensive. And then there are the flecks. Little golden specks in the clay that you’ll probably only notice if you’re holding it in hand, letting the light catch just right.

On another pot they’d be loud, maybe even over the top, or the result of some reduction or wood-fired firing that would cost ten times more. Here, they just… rest quietly, waiting to be seen.

Don’t expect a perfect lid fit, there’s a bit of give but it won’t drip out the top either. A very satisfying, very affordable pot.

And the flat lid? Still flat. But somehow, that’s part of the charm.

Hidden Treasure

This pot is a secret in disguise. I love this pot. The way it looks in person is so much more than how it appears on line. He looks small, no way 180 ml, but man, super thin walls and an awesome lid rim. I can’t keep my hands off of it. The lid has a deep wall, so the pour of liquor is actually really nice. I usually brew & pour, but for some reason I want to hold this pot. Because of this, he’s been dedicated to lower temperature white teas. Some pots are just meant to be held. The glazing has an ever slight sheen to it as well. As I continue to paint it with tea & tea brush, there is a maturity occurring which is making it look so cool. Great find for sure!
